Selani (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share and protect personal information when you use Selani, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Selani is operated by Orana Investments. By using Selani — whether as a customer booking a stylist, or as a stylist providing services — you agree to the practices described in this policy.

02Information we collect

We collect information you give us and information generated when you use the service. This may include your name and contact details (such as your mobile number and email address); the location or address where a service is to take place, so a stylist can come to you; the details of the service you request; and the messages you exchange with us.

For stylists, we also collect the additional information needed to verify identity and to make payouts. We collect this information directly from you and through your use of WhatsApp to communicate with us.

03How we use your information

We use your information to create and manage bookings, to connect customers with stylists, to communicate with you about your booking and our service, to process payments, to verify the identity of stylists, to provide support, to keep the service safe and prevent fraud, to comply with our legal obligations, and to improve Selani.

We only use your information for the purposes for which it was collected, or for related purposes permitted by law.

04Sharing your information

We share information only as needed to provide the service. To make a booking happen, relevant details are shared between a customer and the assigned stylist (for example, a customer’s first name and the service location).

We also share information with trusted providers who help us operate, such as payment-processing partners, identity-verification providers and communications providers (including WhatsApp). We may disclose information where required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

05Storage & security

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, unauthorised access and misuse. Where our providers process information outside South Africa, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection.

06Your rights under POPIA

Under POPIA you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you; to request that we correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant or out of date; to object to certain processing of your information; and to lodge a complaint.
